I am an instructor for a backpacking and nature awareness camp called Jane Ferguson Wilderness Adventures. The camp was created in honor of Jane Ferguson, a wonderful person whose life work was connecting young people to the more-than-human world. Her story is profiled in a book by Gary Ferguson called The Carry Home. This September at the beautiful Yellowstone Bighorn Research Area we held a fundraiser to raise scholarship money for students. I drew this lighthearted poster of rustic dining hall at the facility for the event. The Jane Ferguson Wilderness Adventures introduces local youth to their wild backyard: the Beartooth Mountains.
Field notes from a guy in rural Montana practicing the art of paying attention to the great mystery., imperfectly and sloppily (but with joy!), through zen buddhist practice, drawing, reading, and writing.
